Next Generation Sequencing

The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) has been serving the Australian National University and ACT since 1988. The BRF is the service node for Canberra Clinical Genomics, and provides the high-throughput DNA sequencing results. Canberra Clinical Genomics multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive investigation, interpretation and patient support to help find answers to complex genetic health conditions.

The BRF is a core lab with experience in molecular genetics, protein technologies and bioinformatics. The Bioinformatics Consultancy Unit provides custom pipeline development and analysis of sequencing results.

Illumina Hiseq produces sequence reads up to 150 bp, in either single read or paired-end read format. TruSeq sequencing chemistry supports a wide range of applications including whole-genome sequencing, targeted resequencing, de novo sequencing, SNP discovery, identification of copy number variations, and chromosomal rearrangement.
